The Arc of Greater Williamsburg
The mission of the Arc of Greater Williamsburg is to improve the well-being of older teens to senior citizens with intellectual disabilities through the provision of monthly social, educational and recreational activities while providing respite for their families and caregivers.
Arc members are people with intellectual and physical disabilities, their families, friends, interested citizens and dedicated health service professionals. All are concerned with improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.
The Arc is a non-profit organization serving the communities of Williamsburg, James City County and York County. Supported by the United Way, Williamsburg Community Health Foundation and the generosity of local groups and individuals. Memberships and fundraising efforts also support programs and services.
Arc-GW offers a variety of social, educational and recreational activities and events throughout the year. The organization also works to improve public education and awareness in the community of those with intellectual disabilities through advocacy, self-advocacy and support networks.
The Arc-GW draws volunteers from the whole community. Families and friends are always welcome and assistance from local businesses, colleges and high schools is particularly welcome and appreciated.
